- 4 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2/3 cup shortening
- 2/3 cup butter
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 cup nuts (optional)
- 1/2 cup white chocolate pieces
- 1/2 cup sweetened dried cranberries
1. In a medium bowl, stir together flour, salt, and soda. Set aside.
2. In a large bowl, beat shortening and butter on medium speed for 30 seconds. Gradually add both sugars. Beat until fluffy.
3. Add eggs and vanilla extract. Beat well. Gradually add dry ingredients, beating until well combined.
4. Stir in nuts, berries, and white chocolate pieces.
5. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto an ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8-12 minutes at 350 degrees or until lightly browned. Remove from oven and cool on cookie sheet for one minute. Move to wire rack to cool completely
